On Saturday we woke up early to catch the 7:55am bus to Cuetzalan. We went to the bus station and got on the bus ride and rode for 4 hours till we got there. Once we got there we checked into the hotel and changed into our clothes since we had a tour scheduled to take us to see a cave, 2 waterfalls, and a tour of the village. I loved walking around and driving around Cuetzalan since it was so quaint and had a really great community feel. Not to mention the weather was amazing. We first went to the cave which was amazing and we got to explore it. Then we hiked to the two waterfalls which were also very cool. After the tour, which took about 5 hours, we were exhausted and starving and ready to find a restaurant to eat. On the walk to the restaurant we got to explore the town a little more and it reminded me of where the disney movie Coco was set since there was a little plaza and a bunch of zapaterías (shoe stores). Needless to say, I absolutely loved it.
On Sunday mornings, there is usually a market where people are selling little knick knacks and there’s even a farmers market which was fun to see. I got to buy a couple of items for my friends and love how everyone in the community supports each other by buying things from the markets.
I loved that we were able to take this trip since I got to see a different side of Mexico. What I think is amazing is that this town was so different from Puebla even though it was a city in the same state.
