For one of my Spanish classes we were required to attend a presentation from Chef Rick Bayless who is an OU graduate and famous world renowned chef. He talked about his experiences throughout his life and what helped him become successful along the way in his road to becoming a chef. Listening to his experiences was super interesting and it was easy to see the passion that he put into creating dishes that were authentic.
Something that stood out to me while he was speaking is how he stayed in Mexico for a few years of his life to go to each state and learn how to make food from that particular state, while also getting a feel for the culture. Since I am planning to study abroad in Mexico, this made me super excited because I am ready to immerse myself into a new culture. As I’ve mentioned before, this is one of my biggest passions, and hearing Chef Michael talk about his experiences inspired me more to study abroad in a country full of culture, and food.
