While looking through news articles, I found this one article that talked about how one of Montreal’s hospitals that has shut down, has now been opened back up to serve as a homeless shelter to ensure that people have a warm place to stay during the winter months.
What makes this homeless shelter special is that it allows pets to stay as well. A lot of homeless shelters in Montreal do not allow pets which is sad because they are forced to be outside during the winter months.
I think that this idea is a great yet obvious solution because it makes sense to use vacant buildings to house people who are homeless. This ensures that they have shelter, especially during winter months where it is cold and unbearable to be outside for long periods of time. Hopefully more homeless shelters can be opened up even in other countries to make sure everyone is safe and protected against harsh weather conditions.
