In India, it has recently been announced that there is a new hospital that is geared towards helping abused elephants as well as other animals.
These elephants have been privately owned by owners, used for tourist attractions and so much more. The goal of this hospital is to help the elephants recover so that they can retire in peace.
Unfortunately, many of these elephants have been overworked and not well fed throughout their lives, so the point of this hospital is to nurse them back to health since they are older. They receive many treatments such as regular check ups, specialty treatments and even a hydrotherapy pool.
I personally think that this is an amazing thing that India has implemented. Many animals are used by humans and unfortunately, in some cases it doesn’t benefit the animals and can diminish their health. Hopefully other countries can build more animal hospitals to help rehabilitate them.
