Yay for Healthcare!

It was recently announced that AIDS is no longer the leading cause of death in the continent of Africa because of great amounts of research and disease treatment. This is super important because of how prevalent the disease was, and it shows how amazing medicine is.

There has been a huge decrease in mortality rates due to HIV, and the article states that AIDS has decreased 24% over the last 5 years. According to the World Health Organization, more and more countries are using HIV self-testing into their national policy which has helped to reduce the number of people suffering with AIDS.

Along with the decrease in AIDS, there is a huge decrease in the number of people with malaria related deaths, with a 60% decrease over the last 15 years. Along with this, the invention of a very effective malaria vaccine is expected to save many more lives in African countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Malawi.

As someone who wants to pursue medicine and learn about diseases over the world, this news is very exciting for me to hear, and I hope to one day contribute to the change.
